How it works

Three steps, one straight line

The whole thing takes about two minutes online. Then it's ours for a few days, then it's yours for good.

Design it online

Drag lines, dots and letters onto the ball. The designer only lets you place what will cut and draw cleanly, so you can't get it wrong.

We make it

Each stencil is laser-sintered in nylon in our own workshop, to your design and nobody else's. Made to order and dispatched within 3 days.

Clip it on and draw

It snaps onto the ball, you run a permanent marker through the slots, and every ball in your bag comes out identical. Ten seconds a ball.

Every ready-made design comes in Black, Red, Blue, Pink pen. Want your initials on one? Design your own golf ball stencil — it starts from these.

How it's made

Drawn by a laser, one layer at a time.

Your stencil doesn't exist until you design it. Then a laser fuses nylon powder into it — 0.12 mm at a time, a couple of hundred layers — until a real part is sitting in the powder. No moulds, no stock, no waiting for a factory. It's the same process behind working parts in cars and hospitals, in a machine the size of a fridge, in our own workshop.

Questions

Things people ask before they buy

Which pen do I need?

One comes in the box: a fine permanent marker in the colour you designed with, free with every stencil. Any Sharpie Fine works too — that is the nib the slots are cut for — and spares are £1.99. More on pens.

Does it fit my ball?

Yes. Every ball made to the rules of golf is 42.67 mm across, and Ball Buddy is made to that size. Pro V1, Chrome Soft, the lake ball you found on the 7th — all the same.

How long does it take?

We make them in batches every couple of days. Made to order and dispatched within 3 days; delivery takes another two or three days. You'll get an email with a tracking link the moment it's on its way.

Can I change my design after ordering?

Until it goes to the machine, yes — reply to your confirmation email and we'll swap it. Once it's made it's yours, so have a good look at the 3-D preview before you pay.

What if it arrives damaged or wrong?

Email a photo and we'll make another and post it, no fuss. We keep your design on file so it's an exact repeat.
