Terms of sale

The deal, in plain English

These are the terms you agree to when you buy from Ball Buddy. They don't take away any rights you have under UK consumer law.

1. Who you're buying from

Ball Buddy (a trading name of Surface Scan Ltd), Unit 4 Little Cliffsend Farm, Chalk Hill, Cliffsend, Ramsgate, Kent, CT12 5HP. Registered in England and Wales, company number 15306838. VAT number GB454670577, England ("we", "us"). Contact sales@ballbuddy.co.uk. We sell to consumers in the United Kingdom.

2. Your order

An order is placed when you pay. We email confirmation straight away; that email and this page are the contract. If we can't make what you ordered — for example the design fails a manufacturing check we didn't catch — we'll tell you and refund in full.

3. Made to order

Custom stencils are cut to the design you approved in the 3-D preview. What the preview shows is what we make. If a letter is too fine to cut we thicken it slightly and the designer tells you before you pay. Please check the preview: we can't take responsibility for a design that says "DC" when you meant "CD".

4. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling. All prices include VAT at 20%. VAT number GB454670577. The VAT is inside the price, not added at checkout, and your order confirmation, emails and invoice all show how much of what you paid was VAT. Delivery is shown separately at checkout, and the total on the checkout page is the whole amount, with nothing added afterwards. Payment is taken by Stripe by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at the time of ordering. If a price is obviously wrong (a slip of the keyboard) we'll contact you before making anything, and you can confirm or cancel.

5. Delivery

Made to order and dispatched within 3 days. Delivery times after posting are Royal Mail's and are estimates. Risk passes to you on delivery. If a parcel goes missing, tell us and we'll chase Royal Mail and send another. See Delivery & returns.

6. Cancelling and returning

Before we make it: you can cancel or change any order at all, for any reason, and get a full refund including delivery. Reply to your confirmation email or write to sales@ballbuddy.co.uk.

Ready-made designs and pens. You have 14 days from the day after delivery to tell us you are cancelling, then a further 14 days to send the goods back. You pay the return postage unless the item was faulty or wrong. We refund within 14 days of the goods reaching us, to the card you paid with, including the standard outbound delivery charge. Use our cancellation form or simply email — either is fine.

Custom designs. A stencil cut to your own design is personalised goods, so once we begin making it the 14-day change-of-mind right in regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 no longer applies. You confirm you understand this by ticking a box at checkout before you pay. It affects changing your mind only: a faulty, damaged or wrong stencil is replaced or refunded in full.

Full detail, including where to post things: delivery & returns.

7. Faults

If it arrives damaged, or isn't what you designed, we replace it at our cost. Send a photo. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply on top of this.

8. Using it

Ball Buddy is a stencil. It guides a pen; it doesn't change the ball. Whether a mark is allowed in your competition is between you and the Rules of Golf (drawn marks are permitted — see our guide). Use a permanent marker on a clean, dry ball and let it dry.

9. Your design

The marks you make are yours. We keep a copy so we can replace a faulty stencil or let you reorder, and we don't sell or show it to anyone else. Please don't submit anything you don't have the right to use, or anything abusive — we can decline an order and refund it.

10. Our liability

We're responsible for the stencil and for delivering it. Our liability for anything arising from an order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything that can't be limited by law.

11. Complaints

Email sales@ballbuddy.co.uk and we will answer within three working days. If we cannot put it right between us, you can take a dispute to your local Trading Standards service through Citizens Advice. We are not signed up to an alternative dispute resolution scheme.

12. The law

English law applies, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings there.
